PostSubject: PayPal Launches Mobile Checkout   Thu 3 Apr - 21:36

PayPal has announced the launch of Mobile Checkout, a service that allows consumers in the U.S., U.K. and Canada to buy items securely over the mobile web. According to PayPal, a consumer can visit a merchant’s website and purchase items by clicking on the PayPal button – all from the convenience of their mobile device. To try out PayPal Mobile Checkout, point your mobile phone's browser to and click on 'buy something'.

PayPal Mobile Checkout offers a simple way to accept payments for merchants with online storefronts. With PayPal Mobile Checkout, merchants can sell items such as DVDs, CDs, clothing, tickets, electronics, video games, books, athletic equipment, and even specialty items from catalogs such as SkyMall, directly through the Mobile web. PayPal Mobile Checkout offers: a quick and easy buyer experience, industry leading security, affordable pricing and a straightforward interface and payment flow customization.

“Millions of consumers have chosen PayPal because it offers a safer, easier way to pay online,” said Kevin Dulsky, senior director of PayPal Mobile. “As the mobile commerce market grows as an extension of ecommerce, it will be critical for online merchants to adopt a secure mobile payment platform to reach new consumers and to remain competitive in the market.”

PayPal’s Mobile Solutions Partners enabling PayPal Mobile Checkout include:

CardinalCommerce – a global leader in enabling payment brands for mobile and ecommerce, they host a mobile platform that’s fully integrated with PayPal Mobile Checkout, and allows merchants to quickly and easily launch a mobile commerce site
GPShopper – the leader in mobile product search technology, they enable PayPal users to search for products from PayPal merchants, see product descriptions, images and then buy products from their mobile phones
mPoria Inc. – the pioneer and industry’s leading mobile commerce solutions provider, they enable retailers to quickly, easily, and cost-effectively launch their own branded mobile commerce site. mPoria also offers a mobile shopping portal available to consumers on all major carrier networks, including Verizon, AT&T and Sprint Nextel.
In April 2006, PayPal introduced its first mobile payment service, allowing consumers to buy, donate or send money using a text message-based service from their mobile devices. The addition of Mobile Checkout to the current PayPal Mobile offerings gives users the option to purchase items via the mobile web.
